This year again, the Pakistan Super League and the Indian Premier League clash, as both leagues start on the same date. Remember, both leagues are rivals, and foreign cricketers love playing in both, making it difficult for them to choose quality over money. The league helps identify young talent, giving them exposure and training them for the national level. Looking at the tournament format, this year the event will be played in a double round-robin followed by playoffs.

Pakistan Cricket Board opens the auction to sell the franchise rights of Multan Sultans ahead of PSL 2026. The base price of Multan Sultans is expected to be 160 crore. PCB is confident on getting it sold for over 200 crore at least in the auction process. Prior, Hyderabad and Sialkot are the two teams recently sold in the PSL 2026 auction. Hyderabad was sold for 175 crore while Sialkot franchise rights were sold for 185 crore.

HBL PSL XI Format

The 11th Season of the Pakistan Super League, HBL PSL 2026, is set to feature an increased number of teams from six to eight, with a revised structure divided into two phases. The PSL XI will have 44 matches over 39 days span. 

The new format will create a same level of playing field for all eight teams as the phase 1 will consist of a single round-robin format, in which each team in the league plays all the others once, with 28 matches being played.

While in Phase 2, which will be played in a Super Four format, the eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, where the top two teams from each group will play in the knockout phase of the league (four-match knockout format) to determine the winner of PSL 2026. 

Every team will play at least 10 matches during the PSL 2026. The matches will take place in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and, for the first time, at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. 

PSL 2026 Draft

PSL proposed a new draft system for the Pakistan Super League 2026 named Drauction, a hybrid model for draft and auction. In previous editions, the draft was held, but with the addition of two more teams, Sialkot and Hyderabad, PSL opted for a new system.

For the 2026 Pakistan Super League, there will be no telecast available in India. But for South Asian countries, Sony Pictures Network will continue to offer the matches, except in India.

Sky Sports Cricket will provide live coverage of the tournament in the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, the OTT platforms Sky Go and Sky Now are the premium services for online streaming in the UK.

In the United States

Willow TV holds the official broadcasting rights for the HBL PSL T20 League in the United States. The on-demand service provider, Willow TV, offers live streaming on both its website and app in North America.

In Australia

Fox Sports to broadcast live coverage of the eleventh edition of the T20 league in Australia. The matches will be televised on Fox Cricket 501 HD. Meanwhile, live streaming is accessible within Australia on Foxtel and Kayo Sports.

In South Africa

In Sub-Saharan Africa and its surrounding regions, SuperSport will broadcast live coverage of the Pakistan Super League matches via a subscription model. The matches will be available on both the App and the Website. Pakistan Television Network and SuperSport both partnered to share the TV broadcasting rights for all the series played in South Africa and Pakistan.
