Multan Sultans Squad 2027

The Multan Sultans enter the 2027 Pakistan Super League (PSL 12) with a sense of unfinished business. After a turbulent 2026 campaign that saw the franchise undergo a dramatic mid-season ownership change and a rebranding saga, the Sultans are now operating under the stewardship of CD Ventures and looking to reestablish themselves as genuine title contenders.

Multan Sultans PSL 2027 Auction

The 2027 auction operates under the same framework introduced in 2026, where players signed at the inaugural auction received two-year contracts covering both the 11th and 12th editions. This means the core of the squad that was assembled under the Sialkot Stallionz banner—before the mid-season rebrand to Multan Sultans—carries forward into PSL 12. Franchises are permitted to retain up to seven players for the upcoming season.

The Sultans’ most significant move remains the direct signing of Australian legend Steve Smith for PKR 14 crore, a deal that set a new financial benchmark for the league and gave the franchise a world-class anchor at the top of the order. Ashton Turner, who was acquired for PKR 4.2 crore, continues to lead the side.

About Multan Sultans Team

Representing the historic city of Multan, the Sultans are one of the most consistent franchises in the Pakistan Super League’s history. Multan Sultans won their first PSL title in 2021, defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the final under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan. They have reached the final on four occasions (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), establishing themselves as perennial contenders during that period.

Originally established in 2018 as the 6th franchise in the PSL, the Multan Sultans franchise was granted rights to operate by the Pakistan Cricket Board for ten years for $5.2 million—at the time, the lowest bid. The franchise was owned by Ali Tareen, but a messy ownership battle and change of principal ownership saw the Stallionz identity emerge before circling back to the Sultans name.

In March 2026, just weeks before PSL 11 began, the Sialkot Stallionz were officially rebranded as Multan Sultans following a majority takeover by CD Ventures. The revised structure positioned Gohar Shah as Chief Executive Officer, with the annual franchise fee rising to PKR 2 billion (US$7.2 million) under the new partnership. Franchise owner Hamza Majeed publicly endorsed Shah’s leadership, noting, “Gohar Shah’s passion and drive are even greater than mine”.

The PCB has signaled its intention to auction the Multan Sultans franchise to a new owner in 2027, following a planned one-year period of PCB management. Whether that auction proceeds as planned remains a developing story, but for now, the Sultans are focused on the cricket and on restoring the winning culture that defined the franchise between 2021 and 2024.
